  1. Hi,

I am about to graduate with my masters in automotive engineering from the University of Leeds and was wondering what the best route was to get into F1? Very few teams offer graduate positions and most junior engineering roles require minimum 3 years experience in F1 or similar motorsports. I have looked at applying at component manufacturers or similar companies but I am a bit stuck for ideas. What was your route?

    Thanks,

    Hugo

    1. Hi Hugo

I got into F1 after several years of working in the wider motorsport industry. It’s the same with most people.

One of the key lessons I try and tell people through this blog is to not think only about getting a job in F1 straight from school / university. You can gain valuable experience at many many different companies which will not have anything like the competition for jobs that F1 does. Few people get a job in F1 straightaway.
